The Thrill of Creating

Painting for me is the thrill of creating my own special universe. It is the freedom to get lost in a world of my own. I have always enjoyed the feeling of detaching myself from the world and becoming just an observer and interpreter.

I was taught to follow a pre-determined approach to produce a consistent result in my work. With time, I realized that I was falling in a routine, retreating to a safe place and just painting pictures that had the same look. Meanwhile, I had lost the exhilarating feeling of discovering and creating different pieces. For me developing a consistent style meant giving up and surrendering to the fear of failing. I won’t exchange places with anybody that lost the freedom to experiment and sometimes fail. While painting, I choose the subject while the painting takes me where it wants to be. I feel that a pre-determined approach for all paintings will rob me the feeling of creating. I believe that a painting creates itself, and I am just a servant to its creation.
